As The Nutty Chronicles' audience continues to grow, largely because listeners are sharing it with friends, I figured it would be a good time to sort of re-introduce the podcast. Explaining a little bit of just exactly WHAT this whole buisness is about.
The original description I composed for the show is as follows: The Nutty Chronicles is an episodic narrative history of my family which combines genealogy, history, family anecdote and supposition to create a picture of an ordinary, modestly circumstanced family living through more than 200 years of Dublin History. And its still a very apt description overall. Though periodically I'll release what I've dubbed a "Meta Episode". That's where things loosen up and we take a peek behind the curtain of the making of a podcast.
But the PRIMARY mission is still one of familial exploration. Using kept letters, photographs, diaries, handed down yarns and pretty much anything I can get my hands on. As my family is all from Ireland and very active in its struggle for independence a lot of times Irish history coincides with my journey.
I believe it's that blending of family and history that clicks with so many.
